It is now only 5 weeks to go to the clubs next open promotion the Night of the Knobbly tread on September 9th so here is the link to enter , https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/165741/Night-of-the-Knobbly-Tread-7 we do need all club members to support this event so please get your entries in this week. Last weekend was the 24/12 at Newnham Park which is in the dry is one of he best venues for Mountain biking however in the wet it is the exact opposite and it was wet so a big well done to Kasia, Darren,Stu and Wayne for battling the elements for an 8th place finish in the 12hr mixed class, in the 12 hr solo Graeme after going trough a B/B and brake pads as well as a drive rain wisely called it a day , Jonny Sargeant was just outside the top 6 at the Hillingdon cct with a 7th place finish , hopefully this week he has improved tor a top 6. Over last week we also had the Wed night social ride, MTB training Thursday and a ride at the Lookout Saturday so as always lots going on.
The club news this week is a bit late but the regular Wed night ride was panned however .
With heavy rain forecast Wayne has now scheduled this for Thursday which is also the evening for the MTB training for the keen riders, starting at 6.30 at the Athletics track car park off Gatting Way and it was good last week to see Paul White back training after injury then Sunday the plan is an MTB social ride from the the main car park at 9.30 at Denham Country Park.
On a different note a couple of club members have bought new Cycleops turbo trainers at a very good price using the cub discount at Paligap equating to roughly 22% of retail, turbo’s are a great way of staying fit throughout the winter when the weather is naff and these trainers will be going up in price very soon so if you want one ,now is the time to buy, snooze and you will lose, so get in touch if keen.
Also the annual club BBQ is back on this year thanks to Matt Burt, the date is the 20th August and is open to partners/dependent s, it is normally a great occasion and gives the chance for people to meet socially, we do need to know if your coming, so please let myself or Matt know All the meat is provided but if people can bring a salad or a desert this will ensure we have a superb spread, just speak to Matt to decide on which.
On the cycling front Wayne is organising an off road trip to Brighton on the 19th August which sounds fun so put this in your diary.
