Club News – 5th December 2016

A big thanks to those that came to the AGM….. nothing too contentious, for those that didn’t here are the main points

The good news is that all the current sponsors, Specialized Concept Store Ruislip, M Property solutions and have kindly agreed to continue their sponsorship for another year.

Paul Miller has informed us that the deal with Specialized in addition to his own input is that the club can get 6 bikes at Trade price although this may not be on the S-Works models and we can get 10 pairs of shoes/gloves/helmets at trade. If anyone would like to considered for any of these deals and as we know Specialized kit is very good stuff let me know ASAP. Those that are racing and getting results will be first choice ,but if you feel you deserve to the deals get in touch and include a resume of this years results and plans for next year .

Open events planned for next year

Feb 26th Bucks Road Sportive -hopefully people have started entering this already at
18th/25thMarch/1st April Specialized Crits Hillingdon
May 14th Bucks Off Road Sportive -this year the planned distances are 50/75/100/125km
June/July Date to be confirmed XC race at Black Park, 2 ccts planned a less technical ct for the first batch of races which will be suitable for novices and the use of cross bike, followed by the full blown cct with bomb holes and North Shore for the British Cycling ranking races. Sam Edwards and Chris to look at dates that do not clash.
September date TBC Night race -although low in numbers and potentially a money losing event due to the majority on the club really enjoying the event and the training leading up to it as long as Henry can commit to providing the lighting tower again this event will be run a week earlier than last year to avoid the start of the cross season. Paul Miller to look at a Demo day in conjunction with this event and the day race and the possibilities of Specialized sponsoring it

Further work to be done to look at organising a cyclo-cross race as a way of encouraging new club members and to make some money for the club.

Club van – it is felt that the club van has only a reasonable life span of another year before major work will be needed on it, There are some funds to assist in the purchasing of another model but if anyone has any ideas to raise money for this get in touch. Darren Smith due to his elegant command of the English language and articulated writing ability honed by many hours studying for his English degree was elected in his absence to look at possible grants available/money raising ideas to progress this.

Memberships subs will remain stable at this year rates of £25 for over 18, as always anyone joining after October 1st membership will run to the end of the following year.

The club are going to try and have a clubs whats app chat group-if you want to be part of this let me know and I will add you the growing list. It was also decided that the clubs facebook page would change slightly to be a closed group, once again if you want to be part of this group or you can suggest members let me or Paul Williams know, the idea is that it will be easy for all members to post up rather than as is the case previously it was the admin only that could post on the home page.

All officials who were in post for this year were re-elected .

Ok so what else happened this week, well Wednesday night once again everyone keenness amazed me as there was a good turnout for the Wed night ride despite the bitter cold-if anyone does not have bright enough lights for night riding let me know as the club have a set that they can lend out .Saturday and Sunday there were rides off road, Sundays ride was planned for a road ride but due to the icy conditions reverted to of road .

This week as usual the Wed night ride is planned, then Friday during the day I am looking at a Lookout ride if anyone wants to join me , thinking of about 10 a.m. meet at the car park. Friday night it is the social night of the year at the Tower Arms the clubs Xmas party, there is room for a few more to join the 44 people that are going so if you have not yet committed get In touch with Hannah/Sue or myself ASAP .

I am working at the weekend so will not be riding but Saturday the plan is a social MTB ride from the Malt Shovel to clear the heads form Saturday and given it is the day after the party the start time will be 10 a.m. Hopefully someone will post up a Sunday ride. Also Suday there is a cross race at the local Hillingdon circuit so why not get down and cheer some of our members on. Whilst we are talking about cross a big well done to Neil Ellison who finished 30th in the Worlds in Belgium this weekend in his age category.

On the club kit front the good news is it in here I just need to get it off Neil so it can be dished out.

This week the clubs special offer is CNP Pro Energy bars as used by 2015 World Champion, Banana or Berry at 65p a bar or 10 for £6. Get in touch if you want any.

Don’t forget to post up or let me know if keen on next years Coast to Coast ride
