Club News 2nd July

This week we can start the cub news of with reports of a win for Roger Fowkes in the vets class of the Eastern Mud, sweat and gears series clearly coming out of the road trip with some form a bit further back in 11th after a crash was Paul White with George Fowkes just missing out on victory with 2nd place in the juvenile class. In the final round of the Beastway series Sam Phillips was back on the top step of the podium in the grand vets whilst Paul White took 4th on Friday in the Summer series. On the road front Agne won the women’s prize on Tuesday night whilst Jack Shuttleworth was best of the men with 11th place. On the Time trial front both Jason and Paul Williams rode the Bath RC10 with Paul taking 2nd.

As always as well as the racing there was the regular MTB training Wed and road training Thursday, social MTB rides Wed and Sat, a good contingent of riders from the club taking part in the Scott Marathon in Minehead as well as a road ride Sunday. The numbers over the last 2 weeks for the weekend rides have been low so let’s try and get a few more out this weekend, if people have preferences as to distance/start times then post up or get in touch and we can go with the majority.

Ok moving onto this week, once again road racing at Hillingdon Tuesday, Wed there is no MTB training this week as it is the annual club Knobbly Tyres 10, a fun event for most, a 10 mile road time trial with riders starting off at minute intervals and on their MTBs! We have some good prizes on offer and trophies for the fastest 3 and the fastest on handicaps which will be based on last year’s times or for those who did not ride how fast I think you will go. No doubt we will cool off afterwards with a beer at the HQ-The Stag PH Wexham. On Thursday we will be road training at Hillingdon starting from 6 p.m. and with the Prime Coaching sessions now finished we should be able to make the session a little longer. Friday morning I am going to do a 3hr gravel ride, mainly little lanes and a few bridleways if anyone wants to join me, cross bike recommended. Saturday we are having an MTB ride around The Lookout meet at Uxbridge at 8 if you want a lift or 8:45 in the man car park. Then Sunday as there was not much interest in the Bridport Sportive there will be a road ride approx 4-5hrs depending on who is out meeting the Malt Shovel at 9 a.m.

For those that have been asking about club kit a new order is now open and links on how to purchase is on the club website, for those who have been racing regularly and by regularly I mean at least once a fortnight, the club will subsidise your purchase by £20, feel free to ask if this includes you!
