Club News 24th July

This week we start off with a big thanks to those that gave their feedback on what type/distance rides they want on a Sunday, unless people let me know what rides suit the majority it is difficult to guess what you want so if you did not reply last week why not send me a quick e-mail letting me know what would be your best time to start/day/distance and if you prefer a stop.

On a further negative note we have now had to remove the North Shore sections from Black Park, hopefully the Park will not fill in the bomb holes which has been mentioned and we can still enjoy those and the single track. If you are upset by this decision by the Park why not at least let them know by sending them an e-Mail or even posting your comments on trip advisor. I only know of one person from the club who felt strongly enough about the decision to write to the Park so from their side there does not appear to be any real concern as to the effects their decisions have made. This is a shame so if people could find time to rattle off a quick e-mail it may help our cause to keep MTBiking occurring in the Park.

On a more positive side the club had some great results at the National MTB champs held at Hadleigh Farm the Olympic venue. Best position wise was Rick Fetherston 4th in the grd vets men, a position replicated by Gosia McPherson in the women’s Grd Vets class, 6th for George Fowkes in the juvenile class and a 10th and 13th for Roger Fowkes and Paul White in the vets, Roger unfortunately crashing when in 3rd just close to the start and a 7th and 8th for Chris and Nicholas Try.

Last week as usual we had the MTB training Wednesday and the Road training Thursday, Saturday for a change we had a gravel /cross ride, which those that attended enjoyed. Sunday I missed the club road ride as I was supporting at the Nats but hopefully there was a good turnout.

Looking ahead to this week as always road racing at Hillingdon tonight, Wed we have MTB training at Black Park from 6 p.m. onwards, Thursday road training 6 – 7:30, then for a few of us the MTB trip, hopefully someone else will post up some weekend rides up whilst I am away. A couple of people are doing the Prudential road ride so good luck to those that managed to get an entry.

Don’t forget the date of the club BBQ on the 11th August is approaching so make sure you have the date in your diaries.
