We start off the club news with some great club results, riding in the latest round of the National Trophy Cross Neil Ellison took an excellent 2nd place only 12 seconds behind Scott rider Neil Craig, having lead the race from the start. Roger Fowkes was another rider on form as he took the win in the London League veterans race with son Roger 4th in the youth B class.
For a few of us we sampled the atmosphere of the De Panne Beach race in Belgium, certainly a great event with massive echelons as the field of well over a thousand riders spread across the beach. Results wise Paul White was best of the club to finish, finishing in the top 300 with Nick, Me and Wayne further behind whilst Gosia took 21st in the Ladies class. Certainly an event that I would recommend to put on the bucket list. Whilst a couple of club members rode the Badland CX sportive which was a well run and enjoyable event.
Hopefully everyone is aware that the club AGM is this Thursday starting at 7 p.m. prompt at the Specialized Concept Store in Ruislip, hopefully if you bring some money there might be the opportunity to snap up some late Black Friday bargains
Also it is the final call for numbers for the club Christmas do which is on the 9th December, a few people have put a lot of hard work into this, arranging the Venue/Music/Food so please support this event, at the last count we had 36 people interested, so now its time to pay for your ticket, a grand total of £30 per head, as always a BACS transfer to the club account secures your place although I can take cash at the AGM.
At the Club Xmas event we usually have two awards, club person of the month and club racer of the year, the voting is close at the moment so please let me know via text/mail/FB your choice.
This week the riding plan is today (Tues) road training at Hillingdon, due to the AGM the cross training s going to be off the agenda this week. Last week in the club news an e-mail was sent out asking people what sort of rides they wanted for this weekend, as a result of the poll we are organising an MTB social ride to Black Park with a coffee stop which will be suitable for all that turn up. Sunday we are going to have a road ride of approx 3hr s at approx 16-17 MPH average with a regrouping on the hills, if the weather is good there might be a coffee stop towards the end of the ride for those who want, both rides will be leaving the Malt Shovel at 9.30. In addition on Saturday there is a 4hr level 2 training road ride once again leaving the Malt Shovel at 9.30.
For those coming on the clubs road trip to France , make sure you book your flights beofre prices go up.
Looking further ahead the South Wales MTB trip on the 5/6/7th Jan is filling up, so if you fancy doing Afan and possibly Brechfa and Bike Park Wales get in touch pronto.
There are a number of us going to Majorca, the home of Spring Cycling-Majorca over the last week in February to the 1st week of March if interested post up on the club forum, http://www.westdraytonmbc.co.uk/forums/topic/march-training-camp/ the more the merrier.
