Well for a number of us it is back to the reality of work and home after a great week in the Alps, for those that have never ridden in the Alps until you have you can not believe the scenery and how long the climbs go on for, however what goes up must go down and some of the descents were just amazing and make the hard work going up worth while. I am sure there will be a club road trip next year but lets put this one to bed before we decide what is happening next year .
Whilst away some others from the club have been busy with Sean and Agata riding an MTB race in Poland, Sam Phillips has been clearing up in the Grand Vets series at Beastway with another 2 wins, Sam Edwards has been at the Hillingdon cct and also taking a podium in the Eastern series with Sam also riding and just missing out so well done to all ol that have have raced.
A few more people have offered to help run the Night of the Knobbly Tread race so I will be getting this sorted over the next couple of weeks, as we only just broke even on the day race we will really need to to all push it and if anyone in the club is into marketing if they could take a lead on pushing the event that would be great.
This weeks rides as usual it is the club social MTB ride Wed night, meet the Malt Shovel at 7, Thursday we are starting the MTB traning up again, meet at the Hillingdon Athletics track car park off Gatting Way at 6.30 p.m. all welcome, at the weekend a number of people will be racing at the Southern Series , but there will also be an easy social MTB ride Sat meet 9.30 Malt Shovel and then Sunday the plan for the social riders is a ride around the Henley area with a pub stop,, full details of meeting place TBC.
A few people have been asking about club clothing, this is Neil’ts baby and if you want any more information then mail him or better still post up on the club website
The next club trip is down to Somerset to ride the following on the 9th July, full details https://www.mtb-marathon.co.uk/events/9th-july-2017-exmoor-minehead.html, the club van will have room for 6 persons with the idea of camping at the venue. There is likely to be a group going Friday morning as well as Friday evening after work, if your keen post up and hopefully we can share lifts.
Votes and nominations for both May’s Racer and club person of the month will close at the end of this week so make sure you vote.
On the club website there is details of a beach race in November and which looks like it could be a good club trip, so check it out at http://www.westdraytonmbc.co.uk/forums/topic/race-tailor-made-for-clive-de-panne-beach-race/ and post up if keen.

Group of my mates and a step in flew the flag for WDMBC at the final mountain mayhem and the weather was truly glorious if not a bit too hot for a 24hr event! 30c for both days and 20c at night… as a team of 4 vets we managed 27laps in 24 and if right managed 18th! Course was just brutal with several big sharp climbs and felt for the solos at the event!
