Well we start of this week’s news with details of a great result by Paul White who benefiting from some recent hard racing took his best position of the season in the Central Cross League with 3rd place, so a big well done to him.
Hopefully everyone is aware that the club’s Christmas Party is this Saturday at the Chiltern Sports and Social Club in Maple Cross where we have hot food, live music and a cheap bar for the small sum of £30. A few people have put a lot of hard work into this, arranging the Venue/Music/Food so please support this event. A BACS transfer to the club account secures your place although I can take cash on the night.
At the Club Xmas event we usually have two awards, the club person of the month and the club racer of the year, the voting is very close at the moment so please let me know via text/mail/FB your choice. The contenders for the club person are the following, Henry Howe-for his efforts with the infrastructure for the night race and assistance with the purchase of the club van, Gosia McPherson for her regular attendance at club rides, organising the Xmas Do and assistance in running our open events, Wayne Cook for his leading of club rides and help at the club events and for organising the routes for the Bucks Off Road Sportive. On the racing front it appears a two horse race with Neil Ellison and Sam Edwards fighting it out, both having had some excellent results over the year.
This week the riding plan is today (Tues) road training at Hillingdon, the Wednesday social MTB ride and Thursday Cross/MTB training are being put on hold for a while due to the dark nights and general build up to Christmas effecting numbers but this Friday there is a day time intermediate Road ride, meeting at the Hillingdon Tube Station at 9.30 a.m. approx 40 miles if anyone is off. Saturday there is some hard MTB training round Whippendell Woods meet at 8.30 at Travis Perkins which is just next to the canal in Rickmansworth Sunday we are going to have a social MTB ride approximately 2hrs with a coffee stop to ride any hangovers off, meet at the Swan and Bottle at 10 a.m. For the cross racers the latest round of the Central league is at the Hillingdon circuit.
For those coming on the clubs road trip to France, hopefully you have now booked your flights.
A fair few us are doing the Paris Roubaix Road sportive next year if you are keen get your entry in soon, it is always a great atmosphere at a foreign event and the Paris Roubaix is one of the classic sportives to ride.
