We have to start the club news off again with another excellent result by Neil Ellison in the Central Cross league as Neil notched up his 3rd win in 3 consecutive cross races, the boy is on form! Also racing at Welwyn in the same event was Paul White who took 13th whilst Sam Edwards took 7th despite being handicapped riding his MTB. In the Wessex league Clive Evans finished 23rd in the grand vets, in the legendary 3 Peaks Cyclo Cross race unfortunately Jorge Manso was a non finisher so the event is still on his bucket list if he wants to join the elite list of club riders who have completed the event.

Over the week it was business as usual with the road training at the Hillingdon CCT Tuesday and then despite the rain a few hardy souls turned up for the cross training so well done to those. Saturday there was a club MTB trip to the Isle of Wight which has some great off road trails, this trip was a bit of a mixed bag as despite leaving at 6.30 a.m. we did not manage to get onto the Island until after 10 due to the M3 being closed because of a terrorist incident which lead to mayhem on the roads around Winchester, once riding everything was going smoothly until Peter Manley had an unfortunate off, culminating in a broken collar bone, so I am sure everyone will join me in wishing him a speedy recovery.

On the sportive front John Jones completed the Ride Birmingham

Ok so now for this week coming, tonight (Mon) it is club night at The Crown PH from 8.30 p.m. Tuesday once again road training at Hillingdon, the plan in 2 x 20 mins sessions of ¼ lap changes sprints at 10 and 20 mins but with a slight twist for the fast boys which will be explained on the night. Thursday there will be the cross/MTB training at the old Uxbridge ski slope both sessions will start at 6.30 p.m. Saturday there is a social MTB ride out to Black Park and a loop of the Park with a coffee stop somewhere on the ride, then Sunday the plan is to get a big club contingent to take part in the Farnboro Flyer a 75 mile sportive in Hampshire full details https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/165663/Farnborough-Flyer-2017 the plan is to take the club van if people need a lift .

A big thanks those coming on the Scottish trip that have paid their £50 deposits likewise for those who have paid their entries to the Beach race, if you have not yet done so please do so ASAP .

Ok next year’s road trip is coming together the dates we are looking at is the week commencing 10th June and this should be confirmed by next weekend a number of people have expressed an interest in coming, numbers are likely to be set at 20 to enable us to find hotels. Having done some very initial research flights to Clemont Ferrand the start point can be direct on the Friday for £42 or a £138 on the Saturday so it is possible we could start the ride on the Saturday if everyone could get there Friday or those that can take advantage if the cheaper flights and have an extra day in Clemont Ferrand . I will be asking for deposits at the end of the week. If you are interested check the forum out on the club website and add your name as this is likely to be oversubscribed.

The poll for the club racer of the month on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/557235464401072/ just scroll down a couple of posts closes on Friday if you have not voted yet now is the time to do so.

People have been asking me about club kit, Neil Ellison is the man to speak to if you are after ordering any new kit, I do have some spare club stock at my place for those that have missed the previous orders and I have listed what is available if you want to purchase any of this then get in touch with me otherwise best to speak to Neil.

Still need people to help out on the 8th October at the WLC hill climb the club are promoting, this can be combined with a club ride as only about 40 mins away and will be over in an hour so if you are not on the Scottish trip why not either enter or assist certainly an event that would suit some of our younger members.

Hopefully see people on a ride soon
