Another week goes by and as always there were a number of club events, the Tuesday road training has started becoming more popular and we aim to keep this going up until the Tuesday night racing starts, this is suitable for all standards so… if you want to get fitter/faster try and make next weeks session. The session starts at 6 but there are no issues arriving later and you canĀ  of course keep going for as long as you want or your lights last.Last Wed there was meant to be an evening MTB ride but after a day of rain a wise decision was made to cancel this but keep checking the FB page/club website as these are going to start up soon. Saturdays MTB session went on at Black Park and will be repeated this Sat morning, despite being a but muddy in places, generally despite all the rain the circuit is holding up well and never turns into claggy mud and come race day the more practice we have had on the race circuit will be rewarded. Also last Sat we had a social MTB ride to complement the training ride. Last Sunday there was a well attended road training ride unfortunately a few people got dropped and lost their way, and perhaps we will need to look at trying to have a GPS route published with a few short cuts so that everyone can see the route prior to the ride. Looking ahead to this week, Sat we have the MTB training at Black Park, meet at Go Ape 9:30, the plan is to once again do a 90 minute hard session using some of the race circuit, we have moved the time a bit earlier to try and avoid the odd dog walker who seems to get upset that anyone else uses their park. Sunday for the MTB races it is the 1st round of the Gorrick Series, for a number of others there is a trip to the indoor track at Calshot, as those that have gone before know this is a real buzz hurtling round a wooden indoor banked track if anyone wants further details and or wants to come get in touch, it is suitable for all abilities and this is the only chance you have as we only have the one session booked this year and we can guarantee it will not be wet! Then on Monday it is club night at The Crown. Hopefully someone will volunteer to lead a social MTB or Road ride either Sat or Sunday so once again keep checking or why not even post up a suggestion on the club website/FBook page. Our road sportive the Bucks Road Reliability Ride is now only just over 2 weeks away so spread the word and send me a fiver if you want to take part, there are two distances and Karen will be doing the shorter distance if anyone wants to join her, you can do the event on an MTB a bit harder than riding a road bike but good training! Thanks to those that have paid their club membership, still a few of the regulars who have been attending the training sessions that need to lengthen their arms and dig deep into their pockets, BACS transfer is the best option, but cheques/cash are accepted. Don’t forget entry to our open events, the BRR, The Beyond Crits, the Black Park XC races and the Bucks Off Road Sportive are now open, so spread the word and as always we do need a few volunteers to assist in the running of these events.
Cheers Chris
