t is now less than 2 weeks to go to the Clubs next open promotion the Night of the Knobbly Tread race to be held at Black Park so hopefully everyone has finally got their entries sent in. http://www.blackparkraces.co.uk
On the racing front this week it gives me great pleasure to be able to report on Sam Edwards racking up another win in the Torq event in the 6hr solo, with Charlotte Cummings one half of the 3rd placed team in the mixed pairs 6hrs with Sean Scott, whilst Darren and Kasia took 4th in the same class. On the road front Jonny Sargant was prominent in the ¾ event at Hillingdon but ultimately was out of the placings.
The poll for the club racer of the month for July closes this week, the criteria is for the rider not necessarily who gets a win or on the podium but a rider who achieves a ride that is better than there normal , the two front runners are Kasia who took 3rd in the last round of the Southern Series in the vets ladies and Neil Ellison who also took 3rd in the male vets, I have gone for Neil as this was his first podium in the Southern Series against a real quality field whilst Kasia also got a 3rd a good result but she has previously won Southern XC events however it is for people to make their own minds up as to which was the best racing performance-the vote is on the clubs Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/557235464401072/
Over last week we had the road training at Hillingdon which saw a good turnout for the first session of the Autumn and which is repeated tonight-6:30pm at the Hillingdon CCT, Wed last week some of rode out to Black Park on the social evening ride and did a couple of laps of the Night circuit, then Thursday there was training at Black Park which will also be repeated this Thursday meet Go Ape 6.30 p.m. Saturday we had a gravel/CX ride which seemed popular so will be repeated, then Sunday there was an MTB ride and a road ride neither being well supported perhaps because it was holiday season and a clash with the Torq event and then another MTB ride Monday so lot’s going on.
This Wednesday in addition to the training rides during the week there will be the usual Social MTB ride meet 7 p.m. at the Malt Shovel. Next weekend there is a contingent from the club going to ride the final Scott Marathon event in the Hope Valley, for those not going there is provisionally an MTB ride planned Saturday but check Facebook out for final details nearer the time.
At the next club night which is next Monday we should have the latest kit order and we will also be finalising tasks for the smooth running of the Night race so make sure you come along to this, 8.30 at The Crown Cowley.
If your keen on coming to Scotland let me know ASAP, the plan is to leave early Thursday , ride Kielder on the way up and then drive to Glentress to ride Glentress Friday, Innerleithen Saturday, before driving down to Mabie and then driving back from Mabie Sunday night, the dates is the 5th Oct to 8th Oct.
