Hope everyone had a good bank holiday and made use of the Monday off and the good weather to get out in their bikes, for a number from the club it was time to put a race number on and take part in the Torq in your sleep event, results wise eyes down, 3rd place in the ladies 3hrs Alex Earl, 5th in the grand vets male for myself, a 13th for Wayne Cook in the 6hr solo and in the 6hr pairs an excellent 2nd place for Agne and Paul White, 4th for Darren and Kasia and 5th for Mark Busbridge , and Sarah Darch, in the pairs female Gosia took 4th with her partner , unfortunately Rick Featherston who would have been at the sharp end of the 6hrs solo had a bit of a mare first crashing and then splitting his tyre forcing his retirement.
Other rides over the week included a well attended Tuesday night road training session at the Hillingdon cct, the Knobbly Tyres 10 on Wednesday which was also well attended with the top three on scratch being as follows, Chris Try, Paul White and Nigel Swift with some fast times by those on cross bikes, Michelle Williams and Andrew Lubega. Thursday it was CX training and then Saturday Clive Evans finished in the main bunch in the race at Hillingdon, whilst a few people loosened up their legs with a ride to Black Park, then Monday there was a well supported social ride.
This week the usual Tuesday night road training was last night, today there was a day time road ride from Denham Nurseries, Thursday morning there is a reccee ride of the Bucks CX Sportive, the ride will be going from the Maple Lodge social club meeting at 10 a.m. in the evening there is the usual CX/MTB training , starting at 6 p.m. then Friday morning there is road riding at the Hillingdon circuit, Sat for those wanting a fast road ride there is the group ride from the top of Red Hill , Tatling End at 9.30 and then Sunday the provisional plan is a 3hr road ride from the Malt Shovel meet 9.30.
OK NOW AS EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ON THE 8TH SEPTEMBER WE ARE RUNNING OUR BUCKS CX/GRAVEL SPORTIVE, A MIXTURE OF SMALL LANES, GNARLY IN PLACES AND SOME SMOOTH BRIDLEWAYS,WE WILL NEED SOME HELPERS FOR THIS EVENT, A COUPLE OF PEOPLE FOR SIGNING ON/CAR PARK DUTIES AND SOMEONE TO MAN THE FEED STATION. IF YOU OR PERHAPS YOUR BETTER HALF COULD HELP, IT WOULD ONLY BE A COMMITMENT FOR A SHORT WHILE AND CAN BE DONE AROUND YOUR RIDING OF THE EVENT (APART FROM THE FEED STATION) SO PLEASE VOLUNTEER AND OUT SOMETHING BACK INTO THE CLUB.
Link to the event is as follows https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/203222/Bucks-CXGravel-Sportive so get your entries in.
