We start off this week with a big thanks to Matt and Kim for hosting the club BBQ, for some reason we did not sort this out last year so it was great for it to be back on, great that there was such a good turnout and the banter/food and ambiance was superb. Hopefully all those that attended will either have entered the clubs Night race on the 9th September or be able to help out as it events such as the night race that help funds such social occasions as the club BBQ.
Saturday the Wayne led off road trip to Brighton was anther success with I believe 14 attending and completing the ride whilst on Saturday Jonny Sargeant was again prominent in the road racing at the Hillingdon circuit but missed out in the sprint finish. Hopefully this week Agne, Chris and Nick will be joining him in the bunch
Ok so what is happening this week, Monday , Myself,Chris and NicK T have done some work down at Black Park in preparation for the training on Thursday and the night race, Tuesday we have started the road training up again and will be at the circuit from 6.30 p.m, this weeks training will be 2 x 20 mins sessions with ¼ lap changes, sprint at 10 mins and 20 mins with 5 mins rest between the blocks of 20 mins and then depending on the light a few sprints to finish off. Wed there is the usual social MTB ride from the Malt Shovel, meet 7 p.m. Thursday we will be riding a few laps of the Night circuit at Black Park , meet 6.30 p.m at Go Ape. Saturday there will be a social MTB ride meeting at the Malt Shovel at 9.30 then in the afternoon for the road racers there is racing at the Hillingdon CCT. Sunday for the racers there is the Torq in your sleep and a road ride is also planned.
No one has suggested any nominations for the club racer/club person of the month for July so looks like we will not be giving out these awards this month. If you think you are worthy then let me know or post up.
Next year we have at least two trip already planned, the Paris Roubaix Sportive which is on the 7th April and the road tour in June which will start in the Massif Central and finish in Perpignan, this is likely to be over subscribed so those that support events like the Night of the Knobbly Tread will take preference.
Provisional plans for the Scottish Trip have been decided, the plan is to leave early Thursday , ride Kielder on the way up and then drive to Glentress to ride Glentress Friday, Innerleithen Saturday, before driving down to Mabie and then driving back from Mabie Sunday night, there are two possible dates 28th Sept to1st Oct or 5th Oct to 8th Oct.
Please let me know if you are interested and if so what date.
