Well we have to start this weeks club news of wishing everyone a happy, prosperous New Year hopefully with lots of puncture/crash free riding involved. Catching up on some posts on social media it is great to see our elder statesman John Jones racked up an incredible 12,00 plus miles over the year, truly inspirational, especially when he has taken a few days off to help out with the promotion of some of the clubs open events.
Over the Christmas period there was a dearth of racing but a couple of us raced, Neil Ellison just missed out on the win in the Eastern cross race on the 30th with a second place, whilst I managed 10th in the over 50’s in the Western cross league on the same day.
Over the Christmas period we had a well supported ride at The Look Out as well as a local Black Park ride and then New Years Eve a social MTB ride from the Denham Country Park. Over last week myself and Gosia had a trip to the Forest of Dean mtbiking, certainly recommend it as a winter trail centre, some great trails and downhills sections with the track being mainly dry, so if you have not been down there why not give it a go.
A quick reminder that as we have started a New Year the club membership subs are due, a big thanks to those that have already paid, for those that have not yet done so, please do so.
In respect of events this week, Wednesday a few of us are going down to the Hillingdon circuit to work out a circuit for our forthcoming cyclo cross race which we are organising on the 27th Jan, the plan is to ride down the canal to the venue and we will be leaving the Malt Shovel at 9.30 if anyone wants to come along.
Thursday there is MTB training at Whippendell Woods at 11 a.m. meet at Tesco’ car park , Rickmansworth those that are interested.
This weekend coming there is the 2nd round of the Brass Monkeys series at Minley and also a Central cross race at Corby and a Wessex race at Abingdon so good luck to those racing, hopefully someone else will post up a social ride.
As a number of you know Peter Manley our club membership secretary is unfortunately moving away from the local area and thus will be relinquishing his post so we need a replacement, thre must be someone willing to put something back into the club, so let me know if keen.
It is now less than 2 weeks away to our next track session at Clashot, numbers are limited so to secure your place a £15 deposit to the club account please, depending on numbers the cost for the 3hr session for track hire and coaching is going to be between £15 and £20. Details at

We still have 2 spaces left for the French road trip in June , so if you fancy it get in touch pronto
There will be an MTB trip to South Wales over the weekend of 8/9/10th Feb I do need to know definite numbers soon to be able to see what accommodation is available so as always get in touch if keented.

April 13th is the Paris Roubaix sportive, the plan for this would be to go over Friday day time in the club van and cars depending on numbers interested, ride the Sportive Saturday, stay overnight Saturday to watch some of the pro race Sunday before coming home Sunday late afternoon/early evening.

If interested in these trips please post up on the cubs website at
