Club News 5th Dec.

OK first things first before we start reporting on what a great week the club have had let’s just remind everyone that it is the club AGM this Monday coming, the 10th December, and is being held at our sponsors shop, the Concept Store Ruislip, starting at 7 p.m. Hopefully we will get a good turnout as we need some volunteers for the club officials for next year. For those with some beer tokens in their pockets I am sure Paul will give you the chance to get some deals on Spesh kit whilst you’re there.

Remember a club is only as good as its membership, the more you put into the club more you and others can get out of it.

OK so now onto the news, one weekend we are riding along a beach in Belgium on mountain bikes, the next weekend we are riding the boards of an indoor velodrome followed by a Christmas Shindig – what variety.

So looking back to last week, 12 of the club went to Calshot Saturday morning, all enjoyed the session, a real buzz riding around an indoor track and with it raining outside it certainly beats the turbo trainer or getting wet. Marc Wilmot was the star of the show but a number of others were looking ft and took to the track well. The next session is on January the 12th, numbers are limited so to secure your place a £15 deposit to the club account please, depending on numbers the cost for the 3hr session for track hire and coaching is going to be between £15 and £20. Details at:

Saturday evening was the club Xmas shindig where it was nice to catch up with everyone, the venue in Richings Park was ideal and the feedback I have had has all been positive so a big thanks to Henry and Matt for organising and to all those that supported it.

On the racing front Neil Ellison finished 4th in the vets cyclo cross race at Welwyn at the weekend whilst Jason Snell took 15th in an off road duathlon, despite his efforts at Calshot on Saturday, riding wise Sunday I think most people were recovering from the Xmas Party. This week we have already had the cross training which this week and next week will be taking place on Tuesday at the old ski slope in Uxbridge. This weekend coming Saturday the plan is a social MTB ride from the Swan and Bottle PH meeting at 9.30. Sunday there is a very local cross race at the Hillingdon Circuit, you can enter on the day so why not give it a go. Also Sunday it is the 1st of the Brass Monkeys winter MTB series events, no doubt there will also be some social rides, so keep checking Facebook for details.

Right, now onto planned trips: The June French road trip is now up to 17 people with at least 4 people muttering about coming, if you’re one of them now is the time to commit otherwise you may miss out.

An MTB trip to South Wales is planned for Jan or early Feb, the plan would be to stay at the Cottage in Cwm Afan departing Friday, riding Cwm Carn Fri, then Brechfa Saturday and Afan Sunday, as always there is some flexibility around this, so once again let me know of interested.

April 13th is the Paris Roubaix sportive, the plan for this would be to go over Friday day time in the club van and cars depending on numbers interested, ride the Sportive Saturday, stay overnight Saturday to watch some of the pro race Sunday before coming home Sunday late afternoon/early evening.

If interested in these trips please post up on the club’s website at:
