Club News – 30th January 2017

Well this weekend we have no wins to report on but Neil Ellison who has been impressing over the winter finished in 5th place and Jorge Manso 14th in the final round of the Central cross league, Neil’s excellent season and consistency has seen him finish 2nd overall, a great result. On the road front Steve Heatley got his first points of the season when he finished 5th in the Lea Valley race.

Socially over the week there were as usual a number of rides starting off with the Hillingdon CCT road training on Tuesday, Wednesday there was the social MTB ride, Saturday morning the cubs social road ride stopped off at the Dogs Trust in Harefield for cake and coffee and whilst there we presented a cheque to the Trust from the profits made at the Bucks Off Road Sportive which this year is on the 14th May, check out for full details.

This week I also picked up the new club jackets which have been purchased thanks to the generosity of Chris Bennett of TMB ArtMetal , these jackets work out at over £50 per item, the club are going to subsidise these at different prices depending on the input the purchaser has made to the club, there are a few people who will be given free jackets, the present sponsors and those who are really at the sharp end or who have made a very big contribution to running the club, the second group of people can purchase the jackets for the sum of £20, these are people who have helped out on previous events and also commit to helping out in future, then for those that have just joined or have not helped out in any depth the price will be £35 let me know if you want one.

Looking ahead to this week, Tuesday it is the road training at Hillingdon, the more peple that go down there the easy it will be to find groups of equal ability, so what ever standard why not pop along. Wed during the day we are going to do a recee of the Bucks Road Sportive meeting at 10 a.m,, should bea few people out so if you are off why not try and make it. In the evening there is the usual MTB social ride meeting at 7 p.m. Saturday there is going to be an MTB ride at Swinley meeting at the main car park at 10 a.m. Then Sunday we are looking at two ability group road rides, a roughly 17-18 MPH 4-5 hour ride and a 3 hours 14-16 moh group, both meeting at the Malt Shovel at 9.30 a.m. Then Monday it is pub night at The Crown we are going to bring the start time of this a bit earlier so we will be meeting at 8.30 onwards.
