Club News 30th Jan.

Well a busy weekend for the club with the promotion of the final round of the Central Cross, the feedback on the event was very positive and with some great club results, a 6th place for Clive Evans in the grand vets, a position replicated by Agne in the senior women and Paul White went one better with 5th in the vets, with Jason Snell 42nd, in the women’s event Michelle Williams came 24th on her debut for the club so well done to all that rode or helped out in any way with the event. Anyone who did not pick up a club T-shirt as a thank you for their help on the day get in touch if you already have a T-Shirt and were not rewarded let me now and I will find something else from the club emporium.

Elsewhere at the Gorrick MTB event we had two victories, George Fowkes in the Juniors and Rick Fetherston in the grand vets, with Roger Fowkes 2nd in the vets and Wayne Cook was 28th

We still need a volunteer to take over from Peter Manley our club membership secretary is unfortunately moving away from the local area there must be someone willing to put something back into the club, so let me know if keen.

There is some more good news for the club from our main sponsor the Specialized Concept Store Ruislip the customary deals on bikes are happening again, the deal is up to 35% off 6 Specialized bikes and a similar amount off shoes/helmets, these deals are aimed at the racers but we can try to put the request in for anyone in the club and see if they will be approved, so anyone keen put your name forward.

The MTB trip to South Wales over the weekend of 8/9/10th Feb is coming up fast, we do have one spare space in the booked accommodation if anyone is keen, the trails in Wales are great fun so why not give it a go, people are travelling down both Friday morning and Friday evening so should be room for anyone wanting a lift.

Then the next weekend on the 17th is or last track session at Calshot, numbers are limited so to secure your place a £15 deposit to the club account please, depending on numbers the cost for the 3hr session for track hire and coaching is going to be between £15 and £20. Details at https://www.westdraytonmbc.co.uk/forums/topic/calshot-track-2018-2019/

April 13th is the Paris Roubaix sportive, the plan is to go over Friday day time in the club van and cars depending on numbers interested, ride the Sportive Saturday, stay overnight Saturday to watch some of the pro race Sunday before coming home Sunday late afternoon/early evening. So far 7 from the club have entered, must be a few more keen on this epic event.

Due to a withdrawal we have one spare space for the French road trip, so if you fancy it get in touch pronto.

If interested in these trips please post up on the clubs website at:
