Club News 30/12/13

Hopefully everyone had a good Christmas and as well as celebrating got some riding in, also hope everyone has remembered that as we approach the end of the year club subs are due, a big thank you to those that have already paid up.
On the racing front this weekend Neil Ellison showed he had not consumed too much turkey as he was still on form taking 6th in the Eastern League event whilst a few from the club rode the SPAM winter enduro, not sure of all the results but in the 35km ride Nicholas Try was an excellent 10th, Chris 31st and Dave was 67th.
On the road front it was a bit of bad news for a few riders as Paul Williams, Jackie Roberts and Sam Grant all suffered crashes that by the sound of it will keep them of the bike for a little while, so I am sure everyone will join me in wishing them a speedy recovery, It was certainly slippery out there Sunday as even though the road ride stuck to the main roads we hit some black ice which lead to a few more falling but everyone bounced back up luckily.
Looking ahead this week on Friday there is a Dorset MTB ride around the Purbeck Hills, Sat there is social MTB ride and then Sunday there will be a road ride from the Malt Shovel and for the MTB racers the latest round of the Brass Monkeys Series, also Thursday afternoon I will be at the old Hillingdon ski slope doing a bit of work on the area in preparation for the forthcoming training sessions if anyone is around and wants to help out let me know.
Don’t forget entry to our open events, the BRR,the Black Park XC races and the Bucks Off Road Sportive are now open

Cheers Chris
