Not many people have been racing this week but certainly Wayne Cook has done us proud, Wayne is the first club rider to take part in the Mongolia MTB Challenge, a stage race which by the pictures ad reports certainly looked good and with some success getting on the podium in his age group so a big well done to Wayne.
Over the last week we have had a cross training session, a road ride, club night and also road training at Hillingdon. As well as this a number of people from the club have been out riding their own rides. It would be nice to see someone other than me posting up club rides, if you want the ride to be for a particular group, a social ride, a training ride or whatever just post up full details either on the club facebook page, the club website or on the club’s WhatsApp group and then hopefully we will see a selection of rides so that everyone in the club can find suitable rides and riding partners.
Looking ahead to this week, Thursday we have cross/MTB training at the old ski slope at Uxbridge, meet 6.30 at the Athletics track car park. Saturday in the morning we have a social MTB ride meeting at the Malt Shovel at 9.30, in the afternoon for the road racers there is a race at the Hillingdon circuit. Then Sunday a few people are racing at the Torq in your sleep event, but for the non racers there will be a road ride meeting at the Malt Shovel at 9 a.m. distance/pace will be dependent on those who attend and hopefully there will be enough to make two ability groups.
Those that ordered new cub kit we should be able to dish this out in a week’s time as it has been dispatched.
I am considering a last minute dot com 3 day MTB trip to North Wales, either 31/8 to 2/9 or 1/9 to 3/9 if anyone else is interested get in touch pronto. If those dates are not good for other people I may consider a weekend later in the month/year so once again let me know if that would suit you better.
We have booked Calshot indoor velodrome for 3 dates this winter and the dates are on FB, please let me know if you want to attend as if there is not enough interest from the club I will be opening up the event to non members.
I know it is early but after the success of the club BBQ kindly hosted by Henry and Lori the next social event is likely to be the club Christmas Do, having organised it last year and on a number of previous occasions I will not be organising it this year I am looking for someone to take this on. So who is up for this? I look forward to glut of e-mails from people wanting to take the event on.
