We start off this week with the news that there is just under 2 weeks to our flagship event the 20th running of the Bucks Off Road Sportive, to be held on the 13th May. We have attracted some big numbers for this event in the past and we are once again hoping for a bumper field. It is events like this that puts some money in the club coffers to enable us to subsidise some trips/clothing/races so let’s make sure that you have either got your entry in for the event or you are helping out with either signing on, car park duties which can be around your own riding of the event or helping with the feed stations. We will be marking the 3 courses out the preceding week and will need some help with that so please let me know if you can help in any way. Just follow the link for full details and entry. https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/170273/Bucks-Off-Road-Sportive-20th-Anniversary
On the racing front this week just gone as usual some excellent results, it started off last Tuesday with 4th and 10th for Drew and Agne at the Hillingdon cct, Drew as a result moving up to 3rd cat joining Agne and Jack Shuttleworth who have already achieved an upgrading. Then Nick Try was first 4th cat rider to finish in the Surrey League Handicap, the results then got better at the 1st round of the Southern XC series at Checkendon, wins for Agne in the sports, Rick Fetherston in the grd vets with Clive Evans 6th and Simon Slater 12th, a 3rd for Gosia McPherson in the Grd Vets, a 4th for George Fowkes in the juvenile, 19th for Paul White in the vets and Nick Try 9th in the sports.
Training-wise and riding-wise, there was a good turnout for both the Wed MTB training and the Thursday road training with a few new faces out which was good to see, Sat and Sunday we had both a social MTB and road rides.
This week as always road racing at the Hillingdon cct Tuesday, Wed MTB training at Black Park from 6 p.m. we will be doing skills until about 6.35 to allow everyone to get there when we will then be moving onto the fitness training. Meet at the large grassed area to the South of the Lake. Thurs it is road training at the Hillingdon cct, there is official training by Prime coaching at 7.30p.m. so we will need to be finished before this which should not be a problem if everyone arrives prompt at 6, usual format 5 laps ¼ lap changes sprint at the end, 2 laps rest, with the slower group starting first and acting as a carrot for the faster group x 4 repetitions. Then finish off with a couple of lead out sprints.
At the weekend a few of us are off to Scotland for some Mountain Biking around the Trail centres of Scotland -if you want to come get in touch pronto.
Riding wise locally Sat there is an 80 mile road ride planned from the Denham Nurseries leaving at 8.30 and then Sunday an MTB ride is planned, meeting place TBC, if you want to go on either the road or MTB ride post up on FB so Simon S and Mike B know if they need to wait for anyone.
We are still looking for a few more people to volunteer to help out with the marshalling at Black Park on the 3rd June, if you have a partner/wife/husband/lover perhaps they could spare an hour or two whilst you race so get in touch if you can assist.
No one has yet come forward to volunteer to organise the annual Night race is no one going to commit?
Hopefully see people on a ride soon
