We have to start this week’s club news off by thanking everyone involved in the organisation of our 1st of 3 Saturday afternoon races at Hillingdon. Conditions were grim with a capital G so a very big thanks to those that helped out Ian Chatfield for organizing, Betty and John for signing on, Will B, Clive Gosia M, Nick, Wayne and Paul White hopefully I have not missed anyone The second round is this Saturday and we will again need people to help, the more people that come along the easier it is and the less time people are marshalling so post up those that can help and who have not already let Ian know they can do so.
On the racing front, Agne was 3rd in the women’s race at Hillingdon on Saturday, those like me who have had their legs tested by her know she can do better than this so hopefully with a little more experience we can see her take the victory this week coming. It would also be good to see some of our other racers in the club give her some team support, so come on Kasia, Gosia J and Gosia M why not make your road race débuts this week.
On the MTB front there was a second and third for Roger Fowkes and Paul White in the vets class at the Mud Sweat and Gears series with George Fowkes 2nd in the juvenile class, so well done to them.
This week we have already had club night, a well attended road training session at Hillingdon on Tuesday and tonight there is a social MTB ride meeting at the Malt Shovel at 7 p.m. don’t forget your beer money, Friday for those not working a day time gravel ride is planned, we will be leaving about 9.30 from the West Drayton area, social pace and a stop is planned so get in touch if you’re free and fancy a spin. Saturday there is talk about a Look Out ride, I will be going to Black Park so that I can be back to help at Hillingdon and will be passing the Malt Shovel at 9 a.m. if anyone wants to join me, Sunday a road ride is planned, approx 4hrs meeting at the Malt Shovel at 9 a.m. hopefully there will be enough interest to have 2 ability groups so post up or let me know if your coming so we can work out some routes for the groups.
Entries have been coming n steadily for our Bucks Off Road Sportive on May13th, this is the 20th anniversary of the event and we are hoping for a record field so spread the word about the event and don’t forget to enter.
The new club hoodies should be available next week , if anyone has got a new club T-Shirt and wants one then they are priced at £10 however those that marshal at Hillingdon can get one as a thank you for their efforts.
There is one vacancy for a female on the French MTB trip if anyone is keen, this is a place to place ride but with the van as back up so is suitable for any standard rider.
I have applied for two club teams in the Prudential ride so we have the chance of getting 8 riders in the event, so far only 4 people have shown an interest, so if anyone else is thinking about it contact me ASAP.
As hopefully everyone will know we are running an MTB race at Black Park on June 3rd, we are going to need marshals for this event and in the past we have paid a scout group to do this, if anyone has any ideas of a youth group that may want to help then once again please let me know
Hopefully see people on a ride soon
