Club News 13th Dec.

Ok we had the club AGM on Monday, a very big thanks to those that attended, as previouslystated a club is only as good as its membership and can only grow and providerides for everyone as well as organise events if the members get involved, soif you have not yet got involved yet why not get in touch to organise a ride.

The good news from the AGM is that the Concept Ruislip Specialized store and M Property solutions are still on board as sponsors for next year, that we have confirmed we will be running the following open events during 2019, a cyclo cross at the Hillingdon cct, the Bucks Road Sportive, 3 crits at the Hillingdon circuit and the Bucks Off Road Sportive. We have yet to decide if we will be running an MTB race.

The bad news from the club AGM is that after many years of supporting the club, will not be renewing their sponsorship agreement, we have to be grateful for the support we have had over the years from Paul Williams company who has had to make the decision on a business level. In terms of club kit design, the current design is already registered for 2019 with BC but before we place any new kit orders the jersey/shorts will have to be subtly redesigned. It is hoped that we can find an alternative sponsor to fill the void left by Paul’s withdrawal, if anyone has any ideas for a further sponsor or if anyone feels generous please get in touch.

In terms of club officials due to an impending relocation our membership secretary Peter Manley who has done a great job over the last few years will be resigning from his post as membership secretary, therefore we are looking for a volunteer for this role, please get in touch if you want more details of the role or wish to put something back into the club. We are also looking for people to run our Sunday rides both on and off road, ideally you should be able to provide details of a ride at least 3 weeks prior to the date and links to GPS files. Once again get in touch if you can assist.

As it is close to the end of the year club subscriptions are now due for 2019 this can be done via the following link,

Ok so what else happened last week, at the Twickenham cyclo cross, Neil Ellison took 2nd place in the vets race with myself 20th in the over 50’s and unfortunately Ant having a mechanical to record a DNF. In the 1st round of the Brass Monkeys events, it was a winning start for George Fowkes in the Juniors with some very impressive times, Rick Fetherston was another club winner riding in the 3hrs Grd Vets race, Paul White was 3rd in the 2hr senior race whilst Alex Earl was 5th in the women’s 2 hr event, so some very impressive results.

Last Saturday also saw a social MTB ride which visited the Dogs Trust in Harefield where we donated a cheque from the profits of last year’s Bucks Off Road Sportive.

This week, we again have a social MTB ride on Saturday where we will be meeting at the Malt Shovel at 9.30 and heading out to Black Park, this will be an approximate 2hr ride with a coffee stop planned, for those wanting a bit of road riding there is also a group going out on Saturday morning, meeting at 9.30 at the lay-by on the A40 opposite the South Bucks county council offices for 2-3hr ride heading out Marlow way.

Sunday for a few of us it is the Newbury cyclo cross race, hopefully someone else will also post up a social ride.

Monday it is the last club night of the year at the Crown, starting at 8.30 and then we are planning an evening Christmas Ride on the 20th meeting at 7 p.m. at the Malt Shovel.
