This week we start of with the news that Sam Philips has won the Grand veterans title in the Beastway series after another win in the final round, Sam has been on top form this month and just missed out on a podium at the latest round of the Southern Series finishing 4th . Also racing at the Southern Series was Sam Edwards who finished 7th Kasia and Gosia who finished 4th and 5th in the Vets Ladies and Nick Try 12th in the sports race with Darren Smith 25th in the vets race.
On the TT front Neil showed he was on form after the road trip with a sub 20 minute ride, which has been one of his aims for the last couple of seasons so it was great to see he succeeded in achieving this. This being a club record, Siobhan also clocked a 27 min time
A number of people have been asking about clib clothing, there is an order open now, so if you need anything the now is the time to order it, full details on the club website, if you have any Q’s please contact Neil
Over the last week the numbers on the club rides have been down however there was a good turn out for the MTB training on Thursday. As we area bit late with the club news the plans for the forthcoming week are as follows, Saturday there is a club ride around Swinley,, meet at the main car park 9.30 or there are a couple of spare seats in the club van which will be leaving my place at 8.45 a.m, Get in touch if you want one of these seats, Sunday the plan is a road ride from the Malt Shovel meet 9.30 a.m. hopefully there will be enough people ut to have 2 ability groups.
Tuesday next week is the usual road racing at Hillingdon cct and be good to see a few more club riders taking part, Wednesday we have the usual Social MTB ride meet 7 p.m. at The Malt Shovel, Thursday we have MTB training which is suitable for all standards and finishes with a skills session, meet at the Hillingdon Athletics Track car park off Gatting Way, Uxbridge. Next weekend a number of people are going down to Somerset to ride the Scott Marathon, check the forum on the club website for full details.
A big well done to Gosia and Sam Phillips for winning the May’s club person and racer of the month respectively, we are now looking for nominations for June’s winners , anyone got any suggestions?
Still looking for someone with marketing skills to assist in pushing the Night of the Knobbly Tread race at Black Park which is to be held on the 9th September any volunteers? A big thanks to Gareme Taylor our 1st club entrant, who is going to be next?
Due to road works we have had to postpone the Knobbly Tyres 10 for a week and the new date is the 12th July, for those who have not done the event before it is a 10 mile Time trial wa race where people set of at minute intervals and try and ride solo as fast as they can, there are prizes for the three fastest riders , our current champion being Roger Fowkes and also prizes for the first three on handicap times, so everyone has a chance of a win, so let me know if you can make it, it is a fun event.
On the club website there is details of a beach race in November and which looks like it could be a good club trip, so check it out at http://www.westdraytonmbc.co.uk/forums/topic/race-tailor-made-for-clive-de-panne-beach-race/ and post up if keen.
See you on a ride soon.
