This week we can report on a couple of second place rides for club riders, in the West London Combine 25, Neil Ellison posted his fastest time on the Amersham road course, 56 mins and 5 secs but just missed out on the win by 5 seconds, Siobhan Butler wasa bit off form and just failed to beat her best time whilst Guy Chapelle although near to the back of the field is improving so a well done to him. On the MTB front it was a round of the Eastern Series, Rick Featherston was 2nd in th grand vets with Sam Phillips a bit further behind in 10th, in the Expert race Sam Edwards was a bit tentative coming back to racing after a knee injury but did well to finish in 8th.
On the social side, Saturday a few of us did a few loops of Black Park and then Sunday we had a good turnout for both the road ride as well as the MTB ride which covered the 75km route of the BORS.
This week Tuesday we have the usual Hillingdon road races, where both Jonny and Chris Try are well overdue a good result to match their potential , hopefully it will be there time this week.
Wednesday we have a social MTB ride from the Malt Shovel leaving at 7 p.m. Thursday we will be doing some training around Black Park , doing some laps of the Summer XC race cct , then at the weekend a few people are in the Lakes whilst others are riding the Crow Hill round of the Southern Series, hopefully some one will post up some rides for the weekend, Monday there is a Surrey Hills ride planned.
As everyone knows I am sure the next club promotion is the Summer XC event at Black Park, to ensure we can keep the bike trails open in the park we need to maintain them the only time we can do this is when we prep the circuit for a race, no racing at the park would mean no bike trails, which I am sure you do not want, so to ensure we run a race again at the venue we need a healthy turnout and also people to help marshal , so as a club member we either expect an entry or a commitment to help, so get in touch as soon as possible or enter !
At the next club night which is now scheduled for June 5th Neil is hopig to have some samples from our new kit supplier, so make sure you get down to club night that day to check the quality and sizes out.
Due to another last minute pull out there are now 3 spaces available for the club’s Summer French Alps road trip, June 10th to 17th available, this trip takes in a lot of the classic climbs from the Tour De France including the Alpe D Huez and Mount Ventoux and is a trip of a lifetime if you are interested in coming get in touch pronto. For those that are coming can they make sure their balances are up to £400 prior to the trip.

    Major dates
June 4th Black Park Summer XC Race
June 6th Specialized Concept Store Ladies night
June 12th to 17th French Road Trip
