Another week flies by and what a week, with some great rides occurring, last Weekend saw a large contingent form the club take part in the Scott Marathon which was an an excellently run event and the course at Minehead was truly Epic with some great down hills and tough climbs. With a great atmosphere at the venue . On the same day John Jones and Sam Thompson decided they wanted an epic ride of their own and did a 100mile road ride, non stop, so well done to both of them. This week so far we were a bit short on club representatives at the Tuesday night Hillingdon races but it was good to see Jonny Sargeant being aggressive throughout the race as his form comes back after his holidays. Wednesday it was the clubs own fun event the Knobbly Tyres 10 and ona hard night Roger Fowkes was impressive winning the event with a time of 22.47 which a number of people believed was a club record but apparently it was 10 seconds shy, a great time never the less, Marc Wilmott and Clive Evans completing the podium with Gosia taking the ladies title and the top three in the handicap being Graeme Taylor, Marc Wilmott and Roger.
Thursday night we had the regular evening training at the old ski slope in Uxbridge, this weekend coming Saturday the plan is a social MTB ride meeting at 9.30 at the Swan and Bottle PH Uxbridge with the intention to have a tea stop at the Dogs Trust to drop a donation off to them from the profits of the Bucks Off Road Sportive, all welcome. Sunday for the racers it is the final round of the Southern Series , so good luck to those taking part, for those not racing a road ride will be happening with the idea of riding out to the Chiltern Cycling Festival http://humanrace.co.uk/event/chiltern-100-sportive/ which is situated at Penn House once again we will be meeting at the Malt Shovel at 9.30.
There is a post up on the club website for race/club person of the month so make sure you vote.
