Ok another week rolls by, the great racing result this week was on the road where Paul Crook rode what can only be described as the perfect race, getting in the break of 4 at Hillingdon then timing his sprint to perfection to take the win, Well done Paul.
Elsewhere the big event for most and one that is starting to be taken very seriously by some was the Knobbly tyres 10, a selection of suspect bikes were on the start line but all just about passed the scrutineering and in the end the new king is Paul Williams who won the title after a few years of trying and joins the list of illustrious winners. Over the week there were so many rides going on, a group were still up at Glentress in the early part of the week, Tuesday evening there was a Look Out ride, Wed another social ride, a day time ride Friday, Sat a beginners ride, Box Hill ride as well as 4 of us clocking up well over a 100 mls on the road. Sunday another couple of rides one to Ranmore Common and another round the Lookout , whilst we also had a few people racing. Elsewhere Steve T and James put there final touches to their training for the Marmotte with a London to Paris road ride where they were always at the head of the pack. Further afield Lizzie and Werner are in British Columbia taking part in a mountain bike race so good luck to them. Enough of looking back what is happening this week, well Wed we have an evening MTB ride from the Swan and Bottle, Thursday road training at Hillingdon, then this Saturday yes this SATURDAY 3rd July the club BBQ, same venue as last year if anyone needs the address just PM me, it will be starting at 4 p.m.or if you want to ride meet at my house at 2 p.m. with the plan to ride off road to the venue, if you need stuff taken to the venue-clothes,drink some one will be driving from my house, for those that want a dip after the ride the Thames is at the bottom of the garden so bring your trunks. I do need to know numbers and if there are any vegetarians , meat will be supplied but if everyone can bring what they expect to drink, bringing a salad/pasta dish or dessert will also go down well. This is open to all club members and partners/kids etc but I do need to know who is coming and unlike the curry after the 10 I don't want 6 people telling me on the day they can no longer make it! It is likely to go on well into the evening , Scouse has promised to make an appearance so should be a great night. For those that are recovered there will no doubt be a social ride Sunday and a number of the racers are competing in the R U tough enduro which was one of the best local MTB courses last year. Most of you will have heard from Colin about Emma's quest to complete her first Iron Man in August of this year, her improvement in all disciplines this year has been tremendous and she is doing it for a very worthwhile cause so if anyone wants to dig deep the site you need is http://www.justgiving.com/iron-emski Not had to many volunteers of help at the next club race at Bordonon July 11th , there is a lot of clearing to do so we desperately need people on the Sat to help out as well as with running the race on the Sunday, I am hoping everyone from the club either enters or helps or does both so don't delay enter via the http://www.southernxc.net/default.asp website, club riders will get a discount when they sign on July 23/24th 12//24hr Still need a fastish lady to join Sarah, Rachael, Cat & Abbi and one rider for the fun ladies unless Teresa has confirmed August 20th French day trip -Suitable for all , Being a Friday hopefully people can get the day off easier than a mid week date, the plan is as always to drive down to Dover go over as foot passengers spend a very relaxed day in the Calais area riding along the coast on mostly off road trails -nothing to technical before a late evening return to Blightly- post up if interested. Oct 1st-5th Oct Scottish trip, looking at leaving either Fri p.m. 1st Oct or sat early a.m. 2 Oct to ride as many of the trails around the Glentress area with the idea of coming back Tuesday the 5th, Costs are N/K at present and will be dependent on numbers and what sort of Digs we can book up so post up if keen . Lots of far sale/wanted items on the home site including a real bargain -BMW 530D Estate 151,000, 3LITRE DIESEL 31mpg a lot more on a run, very reliable, MOT and Tax , good condition, air con, usual BMW extras, service history-£3100 chris@westdraytonmbc.co.uk Last but not least lots of club clothing in stock if you want any get in touch and will check I have your size in stock Cheers Chris |

Chris F & I will meet you at your house for the ride over, with our Salads and booze (glad there's a car going over there! - off road route could have been tricky!)
