Default club news 14-06-2010

On the racing front this week Martin Turton scored a superb win in the youth class of the Southern Series with Isaac Pucci finishing 6th to follow up his recent second place in the mid week Summit race, also at the Summit race Roy Shepard won the masters class as all his training has started to pay off.In the vets Adrian came very close to the top spot taking second with Simon Rowley 8th and Theo and Mike B a bit further back . In the ladies fun event Ceri took 3rd with Frances 4th and in the men's fun Andreas took 7th.

On the social front there were a number of MTB rides over the week, a couple of evening rides as well as a weekend ride, hopefully the new people who came out enjoyed the rides and will be downloading a membership form from the download section of the site and joining up soon to get he benefits from being members which include subsidised club kit, trips and discounts on Specialized kit/equipment.The tri boys and token Girl well done Emma did an epic 112 mile road ride whilst I managed to out do them with a 1118 mile ride in the Tour of Pembroke which I would recommend as an event to do next year.

Looking ahead to this week I am out tomorrow Tuesday morning for a gentle off road ride around The Lookout, nothing too technical as be my first off-road ride since breaking the clavicle .Also Tuesday evening Roy S is going to be at the same place for a 2000hours start for 2 hour fast (ish) ride-post up on the forum if your going to be meeting him. Wed 16th June Paul S is planning the following ride night ride, the Dorney Loop, 6.45 meet Malt Shovel, or Wooden Bridge Datchet at 7.00 all welcome
Thursday there is road training at Hillingdon and also there are a few of us going down to Bordon to work out a course for our Southern Series round on July 11th if anyone wants to join us, I am hoping to be leaving Uxbridge around 4:30 if anyone wants a lift or otherwise meet us down at the venue.

At the w/end we have a couple of teams at the Mountain Mayhem so good luck to them, not sure what the plans are for this weekends off road riding as working but hopefully someone will post up so watch the calendars and forums

For those that are watching the club site Jackie is doing a deal on cheap Specialized inner tubes -post up if you want any

A couple of important dates for club events are coming up

Only just over a week to go to Knobbly tyres 10 on June 23rd a fun event , prizes/trophies for the first 3 handicap and for the 3 fastest riders who can ride their MTB with knobbly tyres 1.5 min over a road 10 mile course, prizes and trophies to be presented at a celebratory curry at Tiger Cubs after the event , hopefully everyone will enter into the spirit of the event and come along to this free to enter event. We need to book the curry house so if your on the list your in if not I need to know that you are coming as they are going to do us a set menu and I will be paying a deposit and do not want to be out of pocket.

July 3rd P.M. Club BBQ at a great venue on the river , free boat trips, mainly off road ride from the Uxbridge area to the venue, leaving about 2p.m. for a 4p.m. start for the BBQ, the club will provide the meat just need to bring a salad/desert and all the drink you are going to consume, this is a very sociable occasion , partners/kids welcome but one again I do need to know anticipated numbers so post up.

11th July We promote our round of the Southern MTB Series at Bordon hopefully as usual we will see a lot of club riders taking part and if your not riding we always need help with running the event so get in touch if you want more details.

July 23/24th 12//24hr most of the teams are now sorted still need to know that Teresa is making up the team with Jules/Karen/Rebecca and Dianne, a fastish lady to join Sarah, Rachael, Cat & Abbi, Andreas,Peter and Chris S are looking for 1 rider in their 12hr team, Jon P and Adrian wanted to make up a vets team but need a few more riders if anyone over 30 and is feeling fast, having been off the bike for while I have been thinking of changing from the solo 12 to the team event to join them, anyone else up for it, we have won the vets class for the last 3 years and it would be nice to keep it going.Post up on the forum if interested

August 20th French day trip - Due to a number of people not being able to make it the date has been moved to the 20th August for the French day trip, being a Friday hopefully people can get the day off easier than a mid week date, the plan is as always to drive down to Dover go over as foot passengers spend a very relaxed day in the Calais area riding along the coast on mostly off road trails -nothing to technical before a late evening return to Blightly- post up if interested.

Oct 1st-5th Oct Scottish trip, looking at leaving either Fri p.m. 1st Oct or sat early a.m. 2 Oct to ride as many of the trails around the Glentress area with the idea of coming back Tuesday the 5th, Costs are N/K at present and will be dependent on numbers and what sort of Digs we can book up so post up if keen .

If everyone could do the honours and complete the below survey it would help with the sponsorship of the BORS so please do so and mention the club/event

Last but not least lots of club clothing in stock if you want any get in touch and will check I have your size in stock
