Looking ahead to this week, tonight it is club night at The Crown Public house from 9 p.m. onwards, Wed during the day there is a long steady road ride leaving the Uxbridge area at 9:30, in the evening it is the 3rd round of the Summit MTB evening series and hopefully we will see another good club turnout and few more class wins to add to the ever growing tally for this year. For the social riders there is an MTB evening ride from the Malt Shovel, Sat there is a beginners Social MTB ride which will be at a slow pace with a stop planned. Roy S is also planning a faster ride so if both rides meet at the same location those that fancy a bit of a blast can go with Roy.On Sunday there are a number of riders gong to various parts of the country, on the racing front it is the 3rd round of the Southern MTB Series at Crow Hill, a few from the club are riding the Marin Rough Ride which is an epic, there is also the Pembroke Road sportive which I had entered before my crash so should be interesting as I am planning to do this as my return to riding after injury, although not quite ready to ride off-road yet. There is also a long road ride from the Uxbridg area meeting at 7 a.m. and Sundays MTB ride is yet to be decided. The following Tuesday I plan to go down to Bordon in the afternoon/early evening to reconnoitre the area in preparation for our Southern Series event which is to be held on the 11th July, if anyone has a webcam who can make it , it would be great to get some action shots of the course.
A couple of important dates for club events are coming up Firstly the Knobbly tyres 10 on June 23rd a fun event , prizes/trophies for the first 3 handicap and for the 3 fastest riders who can ride their MTB with knobbly tyres 1.5 min over a road 10 mile course, prizes and trophies to be presented at a celebratory curry after the event , hopefully everyone will enter into the spirit of the event and come along to this free to enter event. July 3rd P.M. Club BBQ at a great venue on the river , free boat trips, mainly off road ride from the Uxbridge area to the venue, the club will provide the meat just need to bring a salad/desert and all the drink you are going to consume, this is a very sociable occasion , partners/kids welcome but I do need to know anticipated numbers so post up. July 23/24th 12//24hr well who is not doing this event, by my reckoning we have a staggering 40 club riders entered, a couple of teams are short of riders, we need one rider for the following teams, fun lady to join Jules/Karen/Rebecca and Dianne, a fastish lady to join Sarah, Rachael, Cat & Abbi, I believe Gill still might need 1 rider to join her team in the 12hr, Andreas,Peter and Chris S are looking for 1 rider in their 12hr team, with Armen,Ben.Phil and Si looking for 1 rider in their 24hr team, Jon P and Adrian wanted to make up a vets team but need a few more riders if anyone over 30 and is feeling fast, having been off the bike for while I have been thinking of changing from the solo 12 to the team event to join them, anyone else up for it, we have won the vets class for the last 3 years and it would be nice to keep it going.Post up on the forum if interested August 20th French day trip - Due to a number of people not being able to make it the date has been moved to the 20th August for the French day trip, being a Friday hopefully people can get the day off easier than a mid week date, the plan is as always to drive down to Dover go over as foot passengers spend a very relaxed day in the Calais area riding along the coast on mostly off road trails -nothing to technical before a late evening return to Blightly- post up if interested. Aug 28th - Spet 5th French Alps trip room for a few more to join the ever increasing crowd going to Morzine where the trails are just superb and can be as technical as you want! once again post up if your keen this is suitable for all standards as there is already a wide ability group going and room at the digs. If everyone could do the honours and complete the below survey it would help with the sponsorship of the BORS so please do so and mention the club/event http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/S2MVRFQ Last but not least lots of club clothing in stock if you want any get in touch and will check I have your size in stock Cheers Chris |
