There were some rides over this weekend both on and off road. After the recent snow and ice, riders were finally able to get out on the road. Unfortunately, there were a few tumbles in the still treacherous conditions but I'm pleased to say that at the last count, no one was seriously injured and....better still, nor were their bikes. Hopefully, the weather will continue to improve and we will soon be into the spring sunshine. A number of riders made the Calshot trip and those that did, had a very good workout thanks to Dick's coaching. There are still a couple more to go and I know I keep on saying it but they are good fun and you guarantee no bike cleaning at the end of the session, so watch out for the future dates.
This week a number from the club are off Ski-ing.... myself included, so hopefully in a weeks time when we are back, we have left the snow and ice behind us and the racers can get some good training in on the Sat MTB and Thurs Road sessions as we start to build for the season. For those that are just social rides, some of the training sessions will help you improve both technically and fitness wise which will make the social rides even more enjoyable so watch out for those that are suitable for all standards Socially no doubt as usual there will be a ride this Sunday coming, check out the posts on the website for full details. Don't forget there is a ride from the Beyond shop this Sunday, which brings me nicely on to the January discount offered by Jackie. Beyond have a sale on in the shop for club members - 20% off equipment plus even more off Specialized kit/equipment so why not take advantage of this offer . On the clothing front the last batch of shorts we ordered were not quite the correct colour and the decision was made to send them back. Decca have responded well and the new order is expected very soon. On the jersey front we will be putting an order in ASAP and there is already a post up on the forum just add your order to it. Thanks to those that have entered the Black Park race and the Bucks Off Road Sportive, entries for the sportive have been coming in thick and fast once again I know I am repeating myself but club members wanting to do this event will need to enter as it will fill up and on line entry should be available towards the end of Jan, if you pay me by cash/cheque you are entitled to a £5 subsidy as a club member. We should have some flyers and posters for both events please make sure you get hold of some to distribute to your local bike shop and at the Gorrick races as this is how the club makes money to subsidise a lot of our social events them Once in a blue moon the club get very formal and the club's AGM is coming up date TBC anyone wanting to add anything to the agenda get in touch. Cheers for now....I'm off down the nearest Black Run!! |
