Default Club News - 25/01/10

Due to holidays I have missed out on the last 2 weekends, however it looks like a lot of other people have been out with a great turnout for the Beyond Ride and a number of those out taking advantage of the great discounts Jackie is doing at the shop; remember that this sale ends in a few days so if you have not taken advantage of the deals get in quick.

On the racing front it was the Merrell Mudman duathlon on Saturday and Colin just missed out on a podium place finishing 4th in the vets with Ben Tisdell a non finisher after twisting an ankle on the run.Hopefully this Sunday at the Gorrick enduro event we will notch up our first win of the year

Looking ahead to this week there is an MTB ride from the Malt Shovel on Wed night, Thursday road training at the Hillingdon circuit, Sat an MTB training session meet at the Look Out car park 10 A.M. for a 2 hr ride, Sunday there will be a social MTB ride -details will be posted up later in the week. Then the following Monday we are holding the clubs AGM so if you want to have a say in how the club is run come along to the Crown PH meet at 8 p.m. It is hoped that the club shorts order will have been fixed and will be dished out on the same night and we should also have some jerseys for people to try for size as we will soon be putting an order in-if you want anything make sure you add to the forum that has been started.

There is some bad news this week as we have to announce long time member Dave Eckersley is moving to new pastures and takes up a job abroad for a couple of years in Abu Dhabi, to commiserate, as a leaving do we are going for a few beers this Thursday and the offer is open to all that know Dave so why not come along to the Crown on Thursday and then I am sure we will end up in a local curry house.

If anyone is looking for something different how about a bike sculpture check out the following http://www.darengreenhow.com/

I was out today designing a new course for our forthcoming Black Park XC race, It will be similar to last year but with a few improvements and even a drop off, last year we had over 50 club entrants, a number of you have already entered but even more have not so download a form from the download section area and bring it along to the next club night

Other club events this year include the Bucks Off Road Sportive we are close to 100 pre entries already, this despite the on line entry system not yet being live I would strongly advise club members to get their entries in ASAP as this event will sell out.

A number of other events both MTB and road races and sportives are coming up, currently a lot of these are selling out so if you do fancy some of them best to enter soon, the following is one recommended http://www.tourofpembrokeshire.co.uk/ on the 13th June and the real big event for the MTB racers and non racers is the 24/12 on the 24th July so start thinking about riding these events and who you want as your team-mates

I NEED SOMEONE TO PUT OUT SOME FLYERS AT THIS W/ENDS GORRICK EVENT ANY VOLUNTEERS?

Cheers Chris

Did I go the right circuit? Didn't see any club colours. Think there was about 5 people around and one young lad that kicked my ass on the couple of laps he did.
