There may be better ways to do this, but here is what I do.

You need a third party application to import, convert and re-save the file. The latest version of Memory Map will do this. It finally talks directly to your Garmin! Failing that there are plenty of web based conversion utilities. Try GPSies.com

I haven't checked this, but I think that in Garmin Training centre you can save a single lap of a route (.tcx) as a garmin "course" (.crs). You can then convert this as at 1.

failing that, its back to dropping the file into a third party mapping application and doing some manual editing.

I THINK you could do it in several ways.

a. edit the downloaded ride so the start/end point is closest to your house, and then let the 705 auto navigate you that point.

b. using the garmin map, pick a point on the route with the cursor and tell the Garmin to navigate to that point.

c. Using something like Memory Map, create a second route that takes you to the donloaded route, and ride both.

d. Study a map before you start and memorize the way to the loop!

If you have a spare 200MB on your garmin, have a look at the routable topographic maps available at Talkytoaster.com. They are free, more-or-less accurate and have a lot of information of use to the cyclist.

Hope this helps

Haven't got time - too busy try to understand all my new-fangled training aids

Seriously - I ought to go to Hillingdon to drop off some Black Park entry forms, unless you can give some to Alison G.

This is what I did to produce the route overleaf.

Convert file in GPSies.com
Upload to Mermory Map
Delete waypoints to create one loop

The easiest way would be to just record one lap. Then you wouldn't have to do anything with it post ride.

OK who is up for this Saturdays session

Same place same time 9:45 at The main car park

The van should be going from Uxbridge-Post up if you need a lift

Will modify the last part of the cct due to recent rain to avoid some of the muddiest parts

See you there -Chris
