Default club news 7-12-2010

The only racing news this week is another great result for Colin as he took 4th in the veterans class of the final round of the Merrel Mudman on what was apparently a muddy Pipingford course. On the riding front there were a number of rides over the week all well supported, Wednesdays MTB night ride saw I think if I remember correctly 8 out for a jaunt over to Black Park, Thursday saw a few from the club at the road training session at Hillingdon, then Saturdays MTB training had another big turnout and the MTB social ride at the same location saw another big turnout and nice to a few faces that had not been around for a while. Sunday also saw two road rides going out to suit the differing ability groups.

This week the format follows a similar format with Wed the MTB night ride, however this time the ride is scheduled to go out along the towpath and then out to Langley and then to the Thames path,Thursday evening it is road training at Hillingdon meet 6 pm. for an hours blast, Sat a choice, MTB training meet at The Lookout car park at 9:45a.m. the van is likely to be leaving the Uxbridge area at 9 or the social MTB ride meeting at 10 am at the Malt Shovel, Sunday there is a social MTB ride from Denham Country Park meeting at 9.30 or the Edgware road reliabity ride over 100kms, once again meeting at Denham Country Park 9 a.m. Then for the MTB racers the 1st round of the Gorrick Series-If anyone is going to this it would be great if they could dish out some entry forms for our Black Park XC race which is on the 14th March.

Entries for our Black Park XC race on March 14th are still trickling in, last year we had nearly 50 club riders taking part and we hope to beat this total this year , so download an entry form from the club website-remember club members et a £5 discount if they pay by cash/cheque, there will be a couple of recce rides prior to the day. The clubs Bucks off road sportive is filling up a lot faster with entries coming through my letterbox on a daily basis as the on line facility is still waiting to go live, we will have some flyers for both events , please take some and distribute to your local bike shop/gym.

There are now a number of people who have entered the 12/24hr still waiting for a couple of names to make up the vets team-so lets hear from Paul C, BMF and Clive, on the woman's 24 front we already have one team entered but reckon if Karen Campbell, Jackie Roberts are keen with Kat and Rachael we could have two teams, a fast and a fun team so any women out there who fancy it once again post up on the forum or let me know.Likewise if we have anyone else who fancies making up a team.

Steve T did the Merida series last year and enjoyed it,this year the event has been rebranded as the CRC series -check out the forum for more details

There will be a trip to Wales midweek 20th to 26th the exact details are not set in stone but watch this space or the forum for final details, the idea will be to do the trail centres so that the routes are marked and thus will be suitable for all standards
.
One more bit of good news for the club is that Sam Grant has passed his level 1 British Cycling coaching qualifications, so if anyone does need a bit of advice might be worth asking Sam.

The club jersey order is likely to be going in soon, samples will be brought along to the next club night for those that want to try out the sizes, if you need anything post up on the forum, if you need a password to do so let me know.

See you on the road/tracks soon Chris
