Well last weekend saw another very successful club promotion at Hillingdon when the club race the second round of the Beyond Crits was held and once again a big thanks to all those that helped out with the event, the final round is this Saturday afternoon and need a few more volunteers to help Ian organise the event so don’t be shy why not come along and assist and cheer our own club riders on which last week included Reg and Clive.
On the racing results wise last week it was the 1st round of the National series with Cat putting in an excellent performance to take 14th in the Women’s Elite race in lap times that would have won her the expert and the vets races. Nick Evans was 38th in the men’s Expert race, Rob Jackson was 9th in the Grand Vets whilst Neil Ellison was 15th in the Masters.
On the riding front and training front, last Tuesday saw another good turnout for Tuesday nights road training at Hillingdon. Thursday there was another MTB training session at the ski slope. These are regular sessions so why not try and make them in the forthcoming weeks, This weeks MTB training is starting at 5:30 p.m. and will go on to dusk so even if you can make the start time why not come along, the training is suitable for all and is both fitness and skills based. Saturday morning the social MTB ride was not particularly well supported but the training around Black Park once again saw a few of us get some hard training in and nice to see a few new faces out. This Sunday that has just gone a group of us did a reconnoitre of the 100km Bucks off road sportive route and generally the trails were in very good condition
Ok looking ahead to this week depending on when your reading this you will have missed this weeks road training, which I had to forgo thanks to an untimely cold, next week will be the last session before the evening racing starts. Wed Wayne has posted up an evening social MTB ride, then Thursday it is MTB training at the old Hillingdon ski slope from 5:30 to dusk, Sat there is no training as it is the Southern XC series on Sunday but there is a social ride leaving the Malt Shovel at 9:30 all welcome. Sat afternoon it is the Beyond Crits, Then Sunday for the MTB racers it is the 2nd round of the Southern Series at Checkendon and hopefully someone will also post up either a social road or MTB ride.
At the moment the only person who can post up on the calendar page of the club site is the admin man Paul W so that’s why a number of rides are not on the calendar, fear not we will resolve this issue soon, but any ride I am organising is always on the clubs face book page so why not also check that out
There is also still a couple of spare spaces on the clubs trip to South Wales over the weekend of the 12/13 April with the option of staying Friday and Sunday night, although people can come along for how ever long they want so let me know if interested.
Also those coming on the Pyrenees Summer road trip we will be having a dry run to see how many bikes go in the club van after the crits on Sat at the Hillingdon cct so if your expecting to put your bike in the van make sure you come along
Don’t forget entry to our open events, The Beyond Crits, the Black Park XC races and the Bucks Off Road Sportive are now open, so spread the word and as always we do need a few volunteers to assist in the running of these events.
