Despite the really naff weather there have been some brave souls racing and with some excellent results, Matt Craner took 2nd on the day and won the vets 4hr series overall with Julian a bit further back in 35th, Rob was 2nd in the 3hr Grd …Vets, Jon P 3rd in the 2hr vetss,Chris and Nick Try 10th and 12th in the 2hr junior class,Sean D 9th and Marcin 27th in the 4hr seniors and Agata 6th in the 4hr ladies.Elsewhere at the Forest of Dean Jules Fox took a win in the mini Down Hill event so well done to her. On the training front there has been a good turnout for the Tuesday night road training sessions and also the Sat morning MTB sessions, also Sunday a few of us rode the Team Quest reliability ride, big well done to all that braved the rain to show the club jerseys off. On the social side the weather has hit the numbers of riders and the rides, hopefully things will soon pick up. Ok looking ahead to this week, Sat we have the MTB training at Black Park, meet at Go Ape 9:30, the plan is to do a 90 minute hard session using some of the race circuit, we have moved the time a bit earlier to try and avoid the odd dog walker who seems to get upset that anyone else uses their park. Sunday there is a road ride from the Malt Shovel the plan is to get a 4hr road ride in but if there are enough people out we can have an easier group. Sat we also have a social MTB ride leaving the Malt Shovel at 9:30 so no excuse for not getting out over the weekend. Just around the corner on the 9th Feb we have a morning at the Calshot velodrome, as those that have gone before this is a real buzz hurtling round a wooden indoor banked track if anyone wants further details and or wants to come get in touch, it is suitable for all abilities and this is the only chance you have as we only have the one session booked this year and we can guarantee it will not be wet! Also remember that to complement the club website and FB page we now have a twitter account, full details are on the website, as previously stated the first stop for club info should be the club website and anyone organising rides should put them on the calendar page of the club site so that all members however social media¬† adept they are they should be able to find out about the club rides. Thanks to those that have paid their club membership, still a few of the regulars who need to lengthen their arms and dig deep into their pockets, BACS transfer is the best option, but cheques/cash are accepted Don’t forget entry to our open events, the BRR, The Beyond Crits, the Black Park XC races and the Bucks Off Road Sportive are now open, so spread the word and as always we do need a few volunteers to assist in the running of these events.
Cheers Chris
