This week we can report on Neil Ellisons ride in the National Cyclo Cross champs , Neil was the only club representative in the championships held at Bradford, Neil had a good start in the quality field and was to finish 40th and although this was his lowest placing of the season it was still a great result considering he had been ill just before Christmas and the depth in quality of the field.
On the road front Paul Bennett and Steve Heatley took part in the Imperial Winter series both finishing in the large bunch which were sprinting for 6th position after a breakaway had formed earlier in the event and held on to contest the win.
Socially for the club there was the usual Wednesday night MTB ride as well as the Saturday morning MTB social.
Moving onto this week club night Monday was well attended and lots of banter over the evening discussing the forthcoming club trips to France/Liege Bastogne Liege and the C2C if anyone wants to join these trips, the full details are on the club website then post up or get in touch . Tonight the we start the road training at the Hillingdon Circuit, meeting at 6.30 the plan is to split into ability groups and do 2 x 30 min sessions with changes every ¼ lap, fast but not flat out with a sprint at the end of each 30 mins. Wednesday there is a road ride planned, the route will be around the proposed Bucks Road Sportive short route,, we will be meeting at the Chiltern Sports and Social club to start riding at 9:30, so far its myself, John Jones and Pete Manley, if anyone else is free let me know and wants to join us let me know. Wednesday it is the MTB social ride meeting at 7 p.m. at the Malt Shovel.
Saturday there will be a social MTB ride meeting at the Malt Shovel at 9.30 then on Sunday there is the Gorrick MTB race for the racers and for the rest a number of us are planning on the taking part in the Team Quest sportive a 2 distance local sportive full details https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/158492/Team-Quest-Form-Finder
A big thanks to those existing members that have paid their membership for the season and a big welcome to the new members joining, remember to get the most out of the club you need to take part in the activities , so bite the bullet and lets see everyone one out on a ride soon.
At the end of February on the 26t h we run our first open event the Bucks Road Sportive, unfortunately although we have kept to an anniversary date this does clash with another sportive and an MTB event so we will really need to push the event so spread the word and make sure you support your club event. A big thanks to Jake, Pater C and Paul B who have already offered to assist if anyone else can assist around riding the event then get in touch as we need a couple of people for signing on, car parking and refreshment also if anyone is a bit of a Mary Berry on the quiet some home made cakes for the riders to purchase when they get back would be a real bonus.
Still got a couple of peoples kit at my house so get in touch to pick it up.
