We start of this weeks news looking back on another successful club Xmas party, so a big thanks to the organising committee and all that attended, congratulations to the award winners, it was nice to catch up on a few people I have not see around for a while, it would be nice to see a similar number out on a club ride soon, so come on make a big effort and lets see a few more out on the next club ride.
On the racing front there was some success at the weekend, Paul White came 2nd overall and comfortably won the veterans class in the Mad Dash event in Stroud whilst at the Hillingdon round of the Central Cross League event Sam Edwards made his cross debut with an excellent 4th despite the handicap of riding on an MTB , with Paul Carpenter also having a good ride in the vets finishing 13th , in the Imperial winter series Paul Bennett was the sole Club rider and finished in the main bunch.
Last week in the club new was details of the Specialized deals on offer to club members- a big thanks to those that replied, a few people I would have expected to be interested, Roger/George Fowkes/Paul Carpenter/Steve Heatley have not put their names into the pot to name a few, if they or any of the other racers are still interested in the deal with Specialized where the club can get 6 bikes at Trade price although this may not be on the S-Works models and we can get 10 pairs of shoes/gloves/helmets at trade let me know ASAP. I will need a resume of this years results and plans for next year.
Ok plans for this week, tonight- Wed it is the usual evening MTB social ride, Friday I am considering a road ride or a few laps of the Hillingdon circuit in the morning if anyone fancies joining me,Saturday morning there is a social MTB ride leaving the Malt Shovel at 9.30 a..m. this will be a gentle ride so suitable for our new members and for those just wishing to spin the legs before the Sunday MTB races.
Sunday it is the Brass Monkeys MTB event as well as the SPAM MTB challenge, the club van will be leaving my place for this event, if anyone needs a lift get in touch with Gosia to arrange a departure time. Nick Try is also organising a steady road ride if anyone wants to join him.
The next definitive club trip is the Coast to Coast trip in early April, we will be looking at booking digs for this ride in the next week or so, if you have been thinking of coming now is the time to commit as accommodation in the area can be hard to find for a group, so either post up on the forum or send me an e-mail if you are coming.
The latest club kit order is now at my place and I have kit for the following people to pick up, if you have not yet made arrangements to pick up please get in touch so we can arrange a mutual time. I have also some energy products for those with an asterix next to there names
