Well for a few people it was time to get back into the swing of racing as club riders took part in the 1st round of the Gorrick series as always we had some good results even though no one managed to take top honours we did rack up a podium place in the supervet category as Matt Craner finished 2nd with Jon P not too far behind in 9th place, in the grand vets Rob Jackson was a bit off  his usual scintillating form and took 5th with Julian  in 13th in the same category, Cat Ross was 7th in the expert Ladies event with Marcin took 13th in the open even despite a hard training session on the Sat at Black Park,. Whilst some from the club were battling the mud 14 of us went down to the indoor velodrome at Calshot, this is always fun and is a real buzz and it was nice to see a few new faces coming along. If we are going to do this again it will need someone to sort out some dates for next winter as this year with Dick no longer booking the sessions we only just managed to book last Sundays session. Also during the week we had the regular Tuesday night road training session at Hillingdon and also at Black park on Sat we had the MTB training as well as a social ride. The MTB social rides have been badly effected by the recent weather and most of the routes we regularly ride are now severely effected by the rain so this Saturday we have a social road ride which will be suitable for Mountain bikes as well, the plan is to meet at the Malt Shovel at 9.30 for a ride out towards Burnham Beeches and without doubt a coffee stop, so if you have not been out for a while why not try and make it Saturday, Sunday a number from the club will be taking part in the Willesden reliability ride which starts at the Ickenham Guide hut and hopefully some will also post up a social MTB or road ride. I have to work this weekend and the tracks at Black Park are starting to look the worse for wear due to the weather so there will be no MTB training this Saturday. Hopefully by now everyone will have entered our own club reliability ride the BRR which is a week Sunday on the 23rd Feb if anyone can help with the refreshments/signing on duties on the day please get in touch, the gps files for the two ride distances 80 and 100km will be on the website by the start of next week, it would be great to see a big turnout so spread the word about the event to all your cycling buddies. I am sure most of you will have seen the new club website and a big thanks to Paul Williams for all his hard work on getting the new site up and running, we do need some more photo’s so don’t be bashful, send any good pictures to Paul. Keep checking the FB page/club website for up to date info and as I said hopefully someone will post up a social ride for Sunday Thanks to those that have paid their club membership, still a few of the regulars who have been attending the training sessions that need to lengthen their arms and dig deep into their pockets, BACS transfer is the best option, but cheques/cash are accepted. Don’t forget entry to our open events, the BRR, The Beyond Crits, the Black Park XC races and the Bucks Off Road Sportive are now open, so spread the word and as always we do need a few volunteers to assist in the running of these events.

Cheers Chris
