First of can I wish everyone a happy New Year and all those that got rubber side up are recovering from their spills and will be back on the bike soon, if you have got to have time off this is the time to do it with current weather, just keep dreaming of those Sunny days to come. On the racing fron t this week it was back to the grind for a few in the Brass Monkeys series and once again some great… rides, Jon Pierce and Stafano had a epic battle in the 2hr vets with Jon getting the upper hand in 4th and Stefano 5th,a little further back Paolo finished 62nd,Matt Craner was the club rider of the day with 2nd in the 4hr vets, Rob Jackson was 3rd and an ever improving Julian Paphitis 7th in the grand vets. On the cross front Neil Ellison was the clubs flag bearer at the final round of the National series and did not disgrace himself in exalted company with a mid bunch finish. On the social side illness and the weather and for me work meant that Saturdays ride was a bit of a no show whilst Sunday a few ventured to the Lookout and others out ona road training ride. Looking ahead to this week we have had club night , nce to see few old faces coming out of the woodwork, Tuesday it was just myself and Clive down at Hillingdon for the road training, Wed Mike Burton has suggested an evening MTB ride so post up if keen,Sat I am planning on doing a 90minute session around the Black Park MTB circuit or around what parts are dry enough to ride without causing any long term damage this will be at a good pace, meet at Go Ape 10 a.m. If you want a blast around. Sunday a choice for me I will be doing a club road training ride 3.5hrs leaving the Malt Shovel at 9:30, there was a muttering about an MTB ride around The Lookout but as the trails are being closed /diverted for trail maintenance think that is best left for another day so hopefully a few people will post up for a Denham Country Park ride and for those who want a an organised road ride there is the Westerley Reliability Ride if you do not thin your up to the clubs road ride. A big thanks to those that helped out at the old ski slope , the circuit is certainly starting to look good and with a bit of dry weather and a couple more hours of work we should be able to start training at the venue soon A big thanks to those that have paid their club subs ,hopefully I will see you all out on a ride soon. Don’t forget entry to our open events, the BRR,the Black Park XC races and the Bucks Off Road Sportive are now open, so spread the word.
Also Jorge has posted up on the site details of an endurance event in the Ardennes which sounds the business so if your keen on the event which is early May post up and lets see if we can get a van full going across.
Cheers Chris
